The Volunteer Program

Given the nature of our work, volunteers often assist some of the most vulnerable individuals in our society. As such, volunteers are required to undergo a police check and a Working with Children/Working with Vulnerable People check.

We need volunteers all year round to welcome visitors to the centre, ensure the smooth operation of the Food Pantry, and support the delivery of events. 

We cover the South Cairns area from Woree to Babinda.

Hambledon House Community Centre is managed by Mission Australia. Mission Australia is a national Christian charity that has been standing alongside Australians in need since 1859. Given the right support, we believe everyone can reach their full potential.

Hambledon House Community Centre relies on the kindness and generosity of the local community and businesses to continue its vital work. We are always accepting donations of non-perishable food items. These items can be brought into reception or dropped into donation bins outside Coles and Woolworths at Mt Sheridan Plaza and Edmonton Coles.

All non-perishable donations welcome such as:

• Canned fruit or vegetables
• Soup, spaghetti, baked beans and canned meat
• Rice and noodles
• Lunch box items and spreads
• Breakfast cereal, crackers
• Long-life milk
